Specific project activities and outcomes achieved throughout the academic school year include:
- Operating an after-school program and intensive academic summer program at The Character Center offered at Bond, Oak Ridge, Apalachee and Ruediger elementary schools that provides tutoring, mentoring, homework assistance, and FSA ELA test preparation. Approximately 675 students have been serviced by the Character Center with 95% (641 of 675) being promoted to the next grade with a 3.10 grade point average. The estimate of $7,000 per student equates to a cost savings of $4,487,000 to taxpayers as students were promoted to the next grade.
- Operating The Character Kids program that provides intensive academic assistance to ensure students met the required achievement levels on the FSA Reading, and Algebra I, Geometry, U.S. History and Biology EOCs ~ all of which are required for high school graduation. Approximately 500 students have been serviced by The Character Kids program with 90% (450 of 500) being promoted to the next grade and/or graduating from high school with a 3.00 grade point average. The estimate of $7,000 per student equates to a cost savings of $3,150,000 to taxpayers as students were promoted to the next grade or graduated from high school.
- For seniors participating in The Character Kids program, the average ACT test score was 20 which is higher than the national average of 19. To date, Pivotal Point Enterprises, Inc. has helped students gain approximately $1,500,000 in scholarships as a result of the academic assistance, test preparation, college application assistance and essay writing provided by the program. These students will hopefully become contributing members of society, and in some situations, end the cycle of generational poverty and government assistance.
